Equivalency certification is the process by which the Ministry of Education in UAE certify the educational qualification and confirm the education to be equal to UAE standard terms. It involves a few steps of certificate attestation at government departments in the country of origin of the document as well as in UAE.

Why was my equivalency rejected in the UAE?

There are five common reasons why equivalency is rejected.

  1. Attest all documents as required.
  2. Your documents will be rejected if your university is not listed in MOE.
  3. Make sure you submit all of your supporting documents, such as a genuity letter, entry and exit status reports, etc.
  4. Documents related to distance education or online education will not be accepted by MOE.
  5. You should ensure that your passport details are the same as those in your academic records.

Is it possible to attest certificates for equivalency in the UAE?

The ministry of foreign affairs requires the completion of the attestation process first. Upon completion of the attestation process, the document must be submitted along with other submissions to the Ministry of education.

Is it possible to attest originals or copies of documents in the UAE?

Depending on the document type and the country of origin, the process differs. Attestations are permitted in some countries.

Is there a place where I can apply for an Equivalency Certificate?

Once certificate attestation has been completed, the certificate can be submitted to either the ministry of education or the ministry of higher education and scientific research (MOHESR).

  1. To get a registration number, you must register online under the MOE Services-service catalog at moe.gov.ae. For a list of the requirements and documents, see www.moe.gov.ae under the certificate equivalency section or email equ.corr@moe.gov.ae.
  2. The applicant must prepare and attest all required university and high school certificates and transcripts before departing the country where they were born or graduated.
  3. Attestations of university certificates and transcripts can be found in the section required attestations
  4. It is necessary to submit equivalency applications in person in Dubai or Abudhabi.
  5. A month prior to the first day of classes, applicants should visit the UAE and submit their applications
  6. If an applicant has applied for a certificate of equivalency but has not completed the equivalency process by the time of registration, he or she will have the opportunity to register for the first semester if they sign the graduate admission contract. Applicants choosing this option must present a copy of the MOHE Application Receipt.
